Ted Turner was larger than life: a visionary in the media world, a pioneer in philanthropy, an Atlanta legend, and a devoted friend of my grandfather,听President听Jimmy听Carter.听听

He led one of the most remarkable lives in American history鈥攆rom growing up in Georgia, to the America’s Cup, to the Superstation, to the creation of CNN. 
 
He was one of our nation鈥檚 greatest philanthropists and conservationists. His decision to give away a billion dollars set an example that paved the way for generations of philanthropy.  

He was a great citizen of Atlanta and a great friend to my grandparents.听He served on 六九色堂 Board of Councilors for听nearly 40听years.听They听caught countless fish together,听cheered for the听Braves听together, and听joined听forces to听change many,听many lives.听听

Ted听Turner was one of a听kind. We will miss him as a person, but his impact will live on.
